Interdisciplinary Treatment

The Center provides a range of treatment programs in both individual and group settings, including: cognitive and behavioral programming, social skills and communication training, counseling, psychological, social work and speech language services, psychopharmacology (medication supports), and research participation.

Individualized Treatment

Each individual's treatment plan is tailored to address his or her unique social, behavioral, language and academic difficulties. Since other disorders commonly co-occur with autism spectrum disorders, including depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, our specialty team treats these and other coexisting psychiatric diagnoses as needed.

Psychological and Psychosocial Treatment

The Fay J. Lindner Center provides a variety of psychological and psychosocial treatment services:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) – individual and group sessions
  • Social skills interventions – individual and group sessions
  • Parent training
  • Family therapy
  • Parent and sibling support groups
  • Transitional life planning
  • College support and preparation for college
  • Family support and education

Psychiatric Consultation and Treatment

The Fay J. Lindner Center provides psychiatric services which include diagnosing autism spectrum and related disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric illness and implementing pharmacological treatment. The psychiatrists prescribe and monitor medication as to its frequency, continued use, effectiveness, dosage and toxicity.

Speech and Language Therapy
  • Individual speech and language therapy
  • Communication-based social skills groups

Speech-Language Pathologists at the Fay J. Lindner Center provide individualized therapy to children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum & related disabilities who present with a wide range of speech and language difficulties. Therapy can target a number of areas including expressive and receptive language, pragmatic language, higher level language (inference, ambiguity, and sarcasm), conversational abilities, and social thinking. Individual therapy sessions as well as communication-based social skills groups are available.

Family Community Support

The Center's social work staff is available to provide ongoing support, education and guidance to families seeking to access community resources and entitlements.
