Volunteer/Internship Position at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, Autism Research Program- North Shore - LIJ Health System

We are seeking volunteers to participate in the ongoing development of a comprehensive patient database for a clinic serving individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related conditions. The database serves as an integral part of the day-to-day functions of the clinic and is also a vital component of the Autism Research Program at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. The database will be used to store, retrieve, and organize patient information and to run statistical analyses for research and performance improvement initiatives. In the process of working on the database, volunteers/interns will gain insight into the field of autism research, learn about the processes involved in evaluation and treatment programs, and gain practical, real-life knowledge of how professionals diagnose and treat autism spectrum disorders and related conditions.

This is an unpaid position for work experience. However, we will be happy to provide a recommendation based upon work performance upon request. Responsibilities will include: Data entry: entering patient demographic information, testing results, medical history and diagnostic information into the database; conducting chart reviews; ensuring smooth data-flow.
Qualifications: Must be highly detailed-oriented and conscientious. Preferably some college though is not required. This is a great opportunity for gaining more experience in the field of psychology, though students majoring in all fields are welcome to apply.
